Final Fantasy VII Rebirth: Destined For Rebirth [VIDEO]

Some locations, characters, and their attack options have been revealed by Square Enix.

Let’s start with the locations. Starboard Junon is an urban residential area within the fortified metropolis overlooking the ocean. In addition to housing for Shinra personnel, its streets are lined with high-end boutiques and restaurants. Currently, preparations are underway for Rufus Shinra’s presidential inauguration parade. The Shinra-8 is a Shinra cruise ship that ferries travelers between the planet’s eastern and western continents. After leaving the port of Junon, it heads for the resort town of Costa del Sol. As part of the on-board entertainment, the ship hosts a Queen’s Blood Tournament.

Then there are the characters. As for Cait Sith & Moogle, this gregarious feline fights from her sturdy Moogle mount, which provides both mobility and support in battle. When Cait is not fighting, his high-tech aide, Cait Sith & Moogle, helps him hack computer systems and tell fortunes. Elena (voiced by Piper Reese/Megumi Toyoguchi in English/Japanese) may be a rookie, but she’s as skilled with her fists and gun as anyone in the Turks unit of Shinra’s General Affairs Division. She and her partner Rude are tasked with tracking down the black-robed figures, which she is more than happy to do if it means being assigned a mission with Tseng. Captain Titov (Jonathan Lipow/Tsuyoshi Koyama) is the captain of the Shinra-8, responsible for overseeing the safe passage of all who travel between Junon and Costa del Sol. He has earned an excellent reputation among his crew for his unwavering dedication to his duties. This is most evident during the various festivities held aboard his ship, which he personally – and passionately – presides over.

Time for Yuffie’s attacks. Her basic attack is to quickly strike enemies with a large throwing star. The speed with which she attacks allows her to recharge her ATB faster than most. While her star is down, Yuffie can unleash magical “ninjutsu” to punish enemies. Yuffie excels at chaining her attacks together and switching her elemental affinity. Her Doppelganger ability allows her to attack in tandem with her clone, allowing her to exploit enemies’ weaknesses more effectively. Her unique ability to hurl her throwing star at enemies allows her to keep up the pressure from a distance. While her Throwing Star is out, she can also use Ninjutsu to strike at her enemies. Whatever element her target is weak against, Yuffie has a Ninjutsu spell for it.

Cait Sith’s basic attack is to dart around the battlefield with the agility of an acrobat, attacking enemies from all sides. When he wants to change things up, he brings out his moogle buddy and switches up his attacks. Cait Sith’s exclusive abilities can hurt enemies or buff allies, but most rely on luck in some way. With “Let’s Ride!”, however, he can jump on his moogle, boosting his regular attacks and unique abilities. With his unique ability, Cait Sith can dropkick enemies while riding his moogle. Once his moogle’s attacks have filled his moogle meter, he can also buff his companions with abilities such as “Defense! Finally, a synergy ability with Yuffie and Cait Sith is called Moogle Pinwheel; they attack in tandem with a secret ninja technique.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be released on February 29 for PlayStation 5. The video features Sephiroth!
