Project 007’s Gameplay Will Feature Excellent Animations

IO Interactive’s next game aims to set the bar very high in terms of animation (too).

The Danish studio has already sent Agent 47 on vacation, as after the release of Hitman: World Of Assassination (which is essentially the new name for Hitman III, but with levels from the first two episodes of the reboot trilogy included), the team has begun work on another character in a suit. The new James Bond game is still under wraps, but Project 007 is in the works and IO Interactive is looking for animators. The studio’s Twitter account has published a series of statements from members of the animation team, and in this one they’re going into hype mode…

“We are taking gameplay animation to the next level. It’s constantly challenging, yet rewarding as the team pushes each other to new heights. You will help cement the animations of Bond and the world we are creating on an exciting new canvas,” said Joshua Andrew Gleaves, Senior Gameplay Animator. “We have a solid team that covers all aspects of the animation process. Everyone has their own space, and there is a lot of open collaboration between the teams. They are really hands-on with different aspects of the production. It’s amazing how well that aspect works at IOI. There is a lot of enthusiasm and drive to grow,” adds Gemma Costa, Senior Cinematic Animator.

The Danes are looking for a cinematic gameplay animator, a gameplay animator and a facial animator, but there are more positions available on IO Interactive’s website (just take a look at their website). They’re looking for 22 people to work on Project 007, which is a bit odd considering the game was announced more than three years ago, in November 2020, but it’s also worth remembering that developers come and go in the games industry, so it’s not uncommon for a team to be looking for new hires throughout the development process.

Project 007 gives James Bond a new origin story. Hopefully we’ll see more of it soon.
