Apple Vision Pro: Depending On Battery Status, Performance May Degrade!

TECH NEWS – It’s a solution called throttling, and we see it in PCs (although it can also happen due to component temperature).

The Apple Vision Pro has been available in the US since yesterday and can be used for 2.5 to 3 hours before the battery dies, depending on how the device is used. The AR headset also has an always-on battery management system that adjusts the performance of the device in different situations. In Apple’s support document, information has surfaced that the company has developed a system in VisionOS that recognizes what is impacting the Vision Pro’s performance and reduces it accordingly. Lower frame rates, reduced Wi-Fi speeds, longer loading times, screen dimming, lower volume – that’s what you can expect. All of these processes are analyzed by a headset running on a low battery, an old or outdated battery, or running at maximum performance. The mechanism was designed with software and hardware integration by the Cupertino tech company.

“Apple Vision Pro has built-in software and hardware systems that help reduce the performance impact of certain conditions, such as a battery with a low state of charge, a high peak power situation, or a chemically aged battery. The system is automatic, always on, and works to provide the best possible performance. Power needs are dynamically monitored and performance is managed to meet those needs in real time. The system allows Apple Vision Pro to compensate for and reduce performance impacts as much as possible. The user may or may not notice any impact on the device, which may be temporary. Depending on the device’s battery life and the tasks your Apple Vision Pro is performing, some examples of these effects may include longer app launch times, lower frame rates, reduced wireless data throughput, screen dimming, or lower speaker volume,” Apple wrote.

Back in 2017, Apple was accused of quietly throttling the iPhone’s performance because it didn’t mention the change when the device was released at the time. The company didn’t want to do that again, so the Apple Vision Pro was released with that information right off the bat.
