The World Wide Web Is 35 Years Old, But Not Everyone Is Happy With Its Progress…

TECH NEWS – Tim Berners-Lee believes that places on the ‘web’ are an opportunity to be an awful person…

Many people don’t know his name, but Tim Berners-Lee is one of the most influential people in the history of technology. In short, without him, we would not be able to read these words. After all, it was his mind and work that gave birth to what we know today as the “web”. As such, Berners-Lee is one of the most decisive voices when discussing aspects such as the development of the Internet, the impact of social networks on our daily lives, and other related events.

As Bill Gates revealed a few weeks ago, the creator of the web has a clear opinion: he is dissatisfied with what humanity has done to creation.

In a recent interview with CNBC, the “father of the web” talked about how his invention developed from the beginning to the present day. In 1989, while working at CERN (the Swiss Center for Particle Physics), Tim had the idea to develop an information management system that would allow him to share data with his colleagues easily. Two years later, his concept laid the foundation for the Internet. In 1991, the World Wide Web took its first steps, an opportunity that continued to evolve until it finally saw the light of day in 1993. Unfortunately for its creator, his invention did not develop as he would have liked.

The “Father of the Web” believes that we have lost control over our data

As Tim himself points out in the interview, when it all started, he couldn’t imagine that “it was going to be like this, this change”. Therefore, he believes that evolution has not gone in the right direction. It points to aspects such as artificial intelligence or social networks. They built devices that make people “angry and upset, or hateful”.

In fact, he argues that the easy and overwhelming production of all kinds of content has led to a loss of control over individuals’ and companies’ data.

However, he says he doesn’t think the Internet is doomed. According to him, artificial intelligence will change the way the World Wide Web is used. It points to the possibility that every human will have an artificial intelligence assistant. “You will have an AI assistant, which you can trust, and it works for you.” He also says that his startup, Inrupt, is working to put everyone back in control of their data. For this, he wants to create a digital space that is independent of the big tech companies. He has been working on this project for years. Be that as it may, Berners-Lee’s opinion is clear: his invention did not develop as he had hoped.
