Cyberpunk 2077: A Demo On Current-Gen Consoles, But With A Twist!

We didn’t think that three and a quarter years after its release, CD Projekt RED’s (CDPR) game would get the kind of trial we usually see a few months after the release of some exclusive titles.

CDPR has announced that it will release a demo of Cyberpunk 2077 for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox series from 8 AM Pacific on March 28 until 11:59 PM on March 31. This demo will be available to play for five hours, with no gameplay restrictions and no payment required, so no Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus subscription is needed to play the first-person adventure game, which was released in December 2020 for current-gen consoles.

The base game is free, so the Phantom Liberty add-on (which is not available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One) is not, but in the meantime, updates and features for the 2.0 gameplay version are still available in Cyberpunk 2077. Skill trees and perks have been redesigned, you can fight from behind the wheel, the police have been overhauled, and there’s also the metro system that came with the 2.1 update, the ability to listen to radios outside of vehicles, and new vehicles.

You can also transfer your save from the trial version of CDPR’s game to the full version if you decide to buy the game. In any case, it’s rather unusual to see a demo so late after the release of Cyberpunk 2077. Interestingly, Electronic Arts allows you to play its titles for up to ten hours before launch as part of the EA Play service, whereas here it’s more than three years before the demo is released, and that’s only for a few days, even though the game’s reputation is much better today than it was at the end of 2020, when Night City was in a terrible state on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and even PC.

At least there is a demo.
