More Big Announcements At Xbox Showcase From Microsoft?

The Redmond-based company is preparing to unveil more games soon (and perhaps gain some attention against Sony), and although there won’t be an E3, it seems that the time itself will be saved for the events…

The Coalition’s next game, Gears 6, was mentioned recently, but that’s only a small piece of the puzzle. The Verge’s editor Tom Warren is a long-time Microsoft insider, and he’s pinpointed exactly when we can expect the 2024 Xbox Games Showcase. According to him, it will be on Sunday, June 9th. That seems logical, since it’s already official that Ubisoft Forward will take place on June 10, and Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest kicks off just before Microsoft’s show, so companies are essentially timing their announcements around that time even without E3.

According to Warren, Gears 6 will be the first to be seen here, but Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Avowed, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will see release dates and/or trailers. He believes this year’s Call of Duty will also be revealed here. Activision Blizzard usually does this later in the summer, but since Microsoft already owns the publisher, they can have a say in this. And what else? State of Decay 3, maybe Fable reboot, Perfect Dark reboot, Contraband, Wu-Tang Clan RPG.

Meanwhile, we hear that Kareem Choudhry, who as Xbox’s Corporate Vice President of Emerging Technologies was in charge of things like backwards compatibility and Xbox Cloud Gaming, has left Microsoft. This was reported by Windows Central, and it’s not yet known what Choudhry will do next, but the site says it has nothing to do with the Xbox layoffs or reorganization (Matt Booty is heading up Activision Blizzard, and Sarah Bond has been named president of Xbox).

Choudhry was working on a new AI division dedicated to games (XEmTech, Xbox Emerging Tech), and they were working on Xbot, the Xbox AI chatbot, and had a hand in the DirectSR scaling technology. XEmTech is now moving to the hardware division, led by Roanne Sones (who we know from her work on Windows), but there’s also a team dedicated to Xbox experiences and platforms, focusing on quality of life features.

Things are moving at Microsoft…

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
