Gears 6: Only 30 FPS or Good Performance With Great Graphics?

The Coalition’s next game doesn’t want to go down the same path as another Xbox Game Studios team with a major Xbox exclusive on the way.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II has already been reported to run at only 30fps on the Xbox series due to its cinematic nature, so Ninja Theory’s game won’t be a technological revolution as it lacks good performance this time around. It’s still a struggle to combine high resolution and great visuals with 60 FPS. The Coalition is trying to improve this with its yet-to-be-announced next project.

On the ResetEra forum, Nate Najda, aka shinobi602, wrote that there is no need to worry about getting 30fps in Gears 6. He didn’t give any further details, but we should add that he’s been a trusted insider for many years, so it’s possible that the new Gears of War episode will not only be pretty, but also run at a good frame rate. (Hopefully not in a way that gives you black bars at the top and bottom of the screen… that’s what The Order: 1886 did on the PlayStation 4).

The Xbox Showcase (rumored to take place on June 9th) will outline Microsoft’s next 1-2 years in advance of this year’s E3. Meanwhile, there should be an update on the status of the Fable and Perfect Dark reboots, as well as a list of what Bethesda and Activision Blizzard King are working on (for example, we’d be curious to know if id Software is actually developing a new Quake installment). With Microsoft’s ever-expanding studios, they have more and more games to launch, so the show should be pretty full; for example, this year’s Call of Duty could be revealed here.

None of this is official yet. Gears 6 is powered by Unreal Engine 5.
