MOVIE NEWS – Blumhouse studio (known for the Halloween trilogy, M3GAN) is currently working on a new horror film, and the first teaser was already shown at CinemaCon. It features a family threatened by a dangerous predator.
Although the brief trailer does not give much away, it shows the family head (Christopher Abbott) coming home one day with a mysterious wound on his arm, suggesting he might be transforming into the titular character. In another scene, Abbott says, “maybe they are already inside,” implying that the violence threatening the family comes from within. If so, the film tackles a very topical issue.
The film is directed and written by Leigh Whannell, who is no newcomer to the industry. He was one of the actors and the writer of the original Saw, which launched the entire franchise, and also wrote the successful The Invisible Man and Insidious: Chapter 3.
The last similar film from Universal Studios was The Wolfman (2010), a reimagining of the 1941 classic. The title role was played by Benicio Del Toro, and the production won an Oscar for Best Makeup.
