‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ Turns Wilder and Louder Than Its Predecessors [VIDEO]

MOVIE NEWS – The third installment of the ‘A Quiet Place’ franchise, ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’, diverges significantly from its first two chapters. Lupita Nyong’o, the film’s lead actress, revealed this during CinemaCon in Las Vegas. (CinemaCon is the annual gala of the National Association of Theatre Owners, somewhat akin to the Oscars.)

“John Krasinski wanted to start something new with the franchise he created, hence he expanded this universe,” the Oscar-winning actress (12 Years a Slave) told Entertainment Tonight. “He also thought of revitalizing the horror genre, which is why the tone of ‘Day One’ is quite different. This film is much wilder and louder, and the stakes are significantly higher.”

According to a report by Variety, Nyong’o wasn’t exaggerating about the film being louder. A teaser shown to the CinemaCon audience featured a scene where the newly-arrived aliens launch a mass attack against New Yorkers with such deafening noise that, as the magazine humorously notes, it completely contradicts the film’s title.

With New York City, the world’s loudest city, as its setting, ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’ promises many grand scenes where people not only flee from the sound-sensitive alien creatures but also struggle to survive against each other in the devastated metropolis.

John Krasinski, the creator, star, screenwriter, and producer of the original ‘A Quiet Place’, did not appear in the second installment but was its director, one of the screenwriters, and a producer. He is a producer for ‘Day One’ and is currently working on preparing ‘A Quiet Place 3’, which will likely continue the story of the family introduced in the first two films.
