[SOP 2024] Skydance’s Behemoth: An RPG in VR? The Studio is Trying! [VIDEO]

Skydance Interactive is attempting to bring a genre we’re used to seeing on consoles and PCs to virtual reality, as the team aims to create a single-player, story-driven action RPG in VR.

Everyone and everything is an enemy in Skydance’s Behemoth. Players will enter the Forsaken Lands, a kingdom reduced to rubble by an ancient curse, to defeat the Behemoths. These giant monsters are spreading ruin across the land. Players must slay all who stand in their way to slay the unkillable and restore life to the once great civilization. Skydance Games set a new standard for grounded, gritty virtual reality combat with its previous title, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners, and continues to leverage the massive scale of virtual reality to deliver story-driven, immersive experiences for players.

The Forsaken Lands is an unprecedented, unforgiving, yet beautiful world teeming with secrets to uncover and a plethora of enemies to defeat. Armed with a grappling hook, players will climb, zip, and reel to overcome obstacles in their path, explore nooks and crannies for hard-to-reach items, and grapple unsuspecting foes to gain the upper hand in combat. Hunt down behemoths by any means necessary, including a highly interactive combat system that allows players to hack and slash enemies at will. Crack skulls, drive swords through hearts, and dismember the bodies of those who stand in your way.

Skydance Interactive’s Vice President of Creative Shawn Kittelsen stated in the press release, “Skydance’s Behemoth really builds on the melee combat and hand-based physics of The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners. Knowing that players want to be fully immersed, we’ve married these advanced mechanics with a storytelling engine that drives the player’s progression through the Forsaken Lands on their way to battle the mountains.”

Skydance’s Behemoth is coming to PlayStation VR2, SteamVR, Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 2 this fall.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
