Horizon Zero Dawn: Sony Makes Another “Smart” Move to Favourize the Remastered Version…

Sony quickly raised the price of Horizon Zero Dawn by 100% on the PS Store after announcing the Remastered version.

Surprising as it may be, Sony has managed to generate another controversy. In this case, the problem is the upcoming release of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. In the end, the announcement of the new version did not convince many fans, but its price outraged the community the most. On the other hand, the upgrade to the Remastered edition will be relatively cheap (€10) for those who already own the game. However, the company took advantage of the release of the update to boost its earnings.

Horizon Zero Dawn now costs twice as much on the PS Store

The retail price of Horizon Zero Dawn on the PlayStation Store before the remastered version was announced was €19.99. However, the amount increased to 39.99 after the new edition was confirmed. It’s worth noting that this doesn’t yet include the update, which will need to be purchased separately for €10 when it launches on October 31st.

What Sony has achieved with this move is to equalize prices.

Buying the game’s original version and then getting the upgrade patch will now cost the same as buying Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered in full. On the other hand, the company also tries to prevent users from purchasing the original version. Remastered will thus be almost a mandatory upgrade if someone wants to enjoy Aloy’s adventure.

This kind of practice is relatively common in the video game industry, even if the community is rightfully unhappy about it. It is even more so in this case, where the changes were made without prior notification to anyone who might be interested in the game. From now on, we can only hope that retailers don’t raise prices (or at least not immediately).
