Oblivion Remastered Beaten in Under 10 Minutes, Just 2 Days After Launch

Bacon_, the YouTuber who blazed through the game in 9 minutes and 52 seconds, proved the core mechanics of the original remain untouched, thanks to a fan-favorite exploit still present in the remaster.

It’s only been a couple of days since The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion – Remastered was released, but RPG fans have already dived in by the thousands. The updated version, which revives the beloved 2006 title with enhanced visuals and minor gameplay adjustments, has attracted a huge crowd. Among them, some speedrunners have seized the chance to set records — and one of them wasted no time.

That speedrunner is Bacon_, a content creator who managed to finish the entire game in just 9 minutes and 52 seconds, uploading his feat to YouTube. This run falls under the “Any%” category, where finishing the game is all that counts — not completing every quest or collecting every item. His method? An old exploit that fans of the original game will immediately recognize.

Bethesda’s remaster combines old and new: while the visuals now benefit from Unreal Engine 5, the game still runs on the classic Gamebryo engine. This hybrid approach retains many of the bugs and quirks that gave the original its charm, including the very loophole that allowed Bacon_ to bypass most of the game. As seen in his video, he uses the exploit to jump straight to the final act of the game, showcasing both his skill and the quirky nature of this re-release.

Over 190,000 Players on Steam Dive Into the Remaster

The speedrunning frenzy surrounding Oblivion Remastered doesn’t look like it’s slowing down. Just days after its launch, the title has already attracted staggering numbers. According to SteamDB, more than 190,000 users were playing simultaneously at one point. Whether chasing nostalgia or leaderboard glory, the community has clearly embraced this high-speed return to Cyrodiil.
