Nikita Kolesnikov, the creator of the franchise, is back at work with a smaller team, and the development approach will be the same as for the first installment.
This time, Kolesnikov is using an open format, as the first developer diary was published alongside the announcement. This is also to show that the team’s journey is open, and he hopes that an early alpha of Hello Neighbor 3 will be available for testing soon. This implies that TinyBuild will probably use an early access system, as we can’t really imagine releasing such an early version any other way (especially if Kolesnikov makes this point in the press release). There will probably be multiple alphas and betas, as we’ve seen examples of this in the history of the franchise.
Hello Neighbor 3 is a cozy yet eerie adventure where every path is the right one and every action leads to discovery. Explore and influence Raven Brooks, a half-abandoned town simulated in real time. Arriving in Raven Brooks as a stranger with no ties to the place, you find yourself in a forgotten, half-abandoned town where every citizen has relationships, desires, and goals. Your actions will reverberate through the town and change the course of events…
Raven Brooks is a real-time simulated sandbox. It’s a fading, half-abandoned town in early spring, tangled with overgrowth and memories. Inhabitants act based on their personalities and circumstances. The system-based nature of the game allows for complex ways to achieve your goals.
The first Hello Neighbor was released on December 8, 2017 for Xbox One and PC, and then on July 26, 2018 for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android. The sequel was released on December 6, 2022 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, and PlayStation 4, but the first pre-alpha was released on July 23, 2020.
Hello Neighbor 3 has only been announced for PC, and understandably no release date has been announced (it’s still quite early in development…). Genre-wise, it remains a survival horror stealth title.
