How Well Can the Steam Deck Handle Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth? Square Enix Has the Answer!

HANDHELD NEWS – Square Enix has thrilled fans of Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth by announcing that the RPG will be playable on Steam Deck. The PC version, boasting new settings and improvements, is set to release on January 23.

In just a few days, countless players will have the opportunity to experience Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth on a new platform. With the PC version’s launch imminent, Square Enix has been teasing fans with updates about the adventure’s stunning visuals and enhanced performance on computers. The latest announcement, however, will excite many gamers: the game will fully support Steam Deck.

The company shared the news on X, posting a short video that shows Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth running seamlessly on the handheld device. “This means that when the game launches on January 23, you’ll be able to enjoy the critically acclaimed RPG anywhere—on a train, a plane, in bed, or even in the bathroom. No judgment here,” reads a playful statement on their website.

Square Enix also highlighted key features of the PC version, saying: “You can, of course, play on your desktop as well. Depending on your hardware, you’ll enjoy framerates of up to 120 FPS and a host of visual improvements, including enhanced lighting, richer environmental detail, and sharper textures.” They added that the computer version has been so meticulously polished that characters and their expressions look even better than on the PS5.

A Message for Mod Enthusiasts from the Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth Director

Like many PC releases, Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth will likely inspire an array of mods from the community. While Square Enix cannot control what players create or download, the game’s director has issued a general request: “Please avoid creating or using offensive or inappropriate mods.” The intention behind this message is to prevent awkward situations stemming from content that might conflict with the developers’ vision.
