Apex Legends: Takeover: Community First! [VIDEO]

Respawn Entertainment is celebrating the sixth birthday of Apex Legends with a developer diary revealing what’s in the works.

With the acquisition comes some significant changes. One of these will be Creator Commissions, where some of the community’s favorite creators will bring unique and curated challenges to Apex Legends with creator-selected Legendary Weapon Skins and Apex Pack rewards. If you want to participate, these rewards can be earned solo and as part of the community, so there will be plenty of opportunities to earn skins. Assault Legends will get new perks (Extra Firepower, Armed and Dangerous) and players will now get extra ammo, grenade slots and better weapon handling.

For the first time ever, the game has reached the point where every single weapon in the game has received a buff this season. There will be a total of 36 anniversary items available for purchase, all of which will be Legendary or higher. Among them will be Heirloom Shards and the first of its kind Mythic R-301. This is a Wraith inspired weapon with three unlockable levels. There will also be new animations for the weapon, including reloading.

There were already a variety of ways to obtain weapons and equipment on the maps, but Apex Legends now has a new feature: the Arsenal, a weapon station that offers all weapons of an ammo type, visible from the sky. Having these in the game means there is a level of planning that players can take advantage of, rather than relying on luck to get good loot. The anti-cheating system has also been tweaked a bit to keep everyone competitive.

Apex Legends: Takeover debuts on February 11th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Due to its age in the genre, this game is considered an absolute veteran, but if it can’t keep up with its rivals, Electronic Arts may quickly decide to discontinue it!
