SkyShowtime has released the official trailer for its new, in-house documentary series, A Recipe for Murder. The first three episodes will be available to stream in all SkyShowtime markets starting February 23, with new episodes arriving weekly thereafter.

A Recipe for Murder is a gripping documentary series that chronicles the brutal murder of Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta, committed on a peaceful Thai island by Daniel Sancho, a 29-year-old aspiring chef who rose to fame through his YouTube videos.

Sancho, the son of one of Spain’s most famous actors, Rodolfo Sancho, was sentenced to life in prison by a Thai court in the summer of 2024. While the trial was widely reported in the press, the nature of Arrieta and Sancho’s relationship remains a mystery. The five-part series not only reveals the truth about their relationship, but also follows the double lives of the two men separately. Documentary filmmaker José Gomez (11M: Terror In Madrid) examines the toxic relationship, the shocking discovery of a mutilated body, and the subsequent investigation, shining a spotlight on the role of the Thai legal system, the media, and even the public.

A Recipe for Murder features more than 50 interviewees from Colombia, Thailand, and Spain. The Colombian interviewees include Edwin Arrieta’s family, including Edwin Arrieta’s parents, Leovaldo and Ana Marcela; Darling Arrieta, the victim’s sister; his nephew, Victor Jattin, and other close relatives and friends.

The Thai interviewees include several people close to the investigation and the shocking murder case, including: Surachate Hakparn, aka Big Joke, the Royal Thai Police general who first took credit for the arrest of Daniel Sancho; Kittipong, the Thai police officer known as James Bond, who became widely known for appearing with Daniel in the video reenactment of the murder; Metapon, the Arrieta family’s lawyer in Thailand; Chawait Lohitviset, who served as an interpreter during Daniel’s testimony; and the priest who was in contact with Daniel during his months in prison on Koh Samui.

The Spanish interviewees include journalists, criminologists and forensic psychologists, as well as lawyers, such as Beatriz Uriarte, one of the Arrieta family’s Spanish lawyers, and Luis Gerez, Daniel’s lawyer who represented him in a previous case.

A Recipe for Murder consists of five thirty-minute episodes, produced by Get Me Out Productions LLC for SkyShowtime and directed by José Gomez.
