Inzoi: Can You Do Pillow Fights in it?

Joel Lee, assistant director of Inzoi, hosted a Q&A on Discord to find out more about The Sims rival.

We’ve already written that there will be a live broadcast soon to talk about pricing and plans for DLC for Inzoi, and with the game in the news, the developers had to answer questions from the somewhat… excited players. Some wondered if the life simulator would allow characters to sleep together…

“In Inzoi, will you be able to have interactions to make babies? Our answer is: sort of. There’s a feature in the game where you obviously know what’s happening, the male Zoi and the female Zoi are together, probably in bed, with the intention of making babies. How visually obvious is that? That’s where you have to use your imagination. What you see is not what you see; you have to assume that’s what’s happening. Is that clear enough for everybody? It’s there. Sort of. Maybe not to the extent that everyone expected. We wanted to make a game that would be accessible to as many age groups as possible,” Lee said.

So part of the game will be that the characters will be, um… having a good time together, but it will be masked somehow. In The Sims, things happened under the pillows, but Inzoi will be less frivolous. Maybe the characters will just lie on top of each other and look deep into each other’s eyes. On the other hand, same-sex couples can get married, so they can have pillow fights, but understandably there won’t be many births.

Later, the developers responded to a question about why the Zois shower in towels, and why they can’t just be naked with blurry or pixelated effects (like in The Sims). The developers said that the pixelated blur effects work well with the more cartoonish style of other games, but when they tried the more realistic character models of Inzoi, the blurred nudity seemed more sexually suggestive than just wearing a towel. There was also a bug during testing, according to the developers, where if you happened to catch a glimpse of a naked Zoi in a mirror, she would simply appear in full, without the visual effects.

Inzoi is coming to PC.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
