More than six years after its Early Access debut, Craftopia is finally heading towards version 1.0 in 2027, with Pocketpair promising to prioritise bug fixes and polish over a last-minute flood of new content.

Long before Palworld became a global hit, Pocketpair launched Craftopia on Steam Early Access in September 2020 and later brought the open-world survival game to Xbox. Its mix of crafting, farming, automation, combat and exploration attracted an audience, but the promised path to a finished release stretched on for years.

The rise of Palworld inevitably shifted the studio’s attention and resources. Although that decision delivered enormous commercial success, many Craftopia players felt that the older project had been pushed aside.

Pocketpair acknowledges years of poor communication

In a statement marking the game’s sixth anniversary, the developer admitted that its communication had not been good enough, particularly after Palworld arrived. Pocketpair said it understood why players believed Craftopia was receiving less attention, while stressing that a team had continued working on it behind the scenes.

The studio’s clearest commitment is that the 1.0 update will launch at some point in 2027. No specific release date has been announced, meaning the game’s Early Access period will ultimately last for more than six years.

Version 1.0 will focus on fixes and refinement

Pocketpair is not presenting the final update as an enormous content expansion. Instead, the team plans to refine existing systems, smooth out the overall experience and address outstanding bugs—an approach that directly responds to one of the community’s most persistent complaints.

The announcement gives Craftopia a defined finish line at last, even as Pocketpair continues developing new material for Palworld and considers its next projects.
