Grand Theft Auto VI has not only caused other games to move up their release dates to the period around its launch, but has also pushed many of them back to 2027…
4A Games and Plaion made an appearance during State of Play, where the duo announced the release date for Metro 2039. We already knew the game would be released in February 2027, but now we know the exact date: February 4. With this, the game cleverly beats all the major titles scheduled for that month—which is one of the most game-packed months in recent memory: Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis releases on February 12, God of War: Laufey arrives on February 16, Persona 4 Revival rolls out on February 18, and the Fable reboot hits on February 23.
Nevertheless, two major AAA-tier premium games will be released even before Metro 2039 next year: Stranger Than Heaven from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and SEGA, which will be released on Friday, January 15, and Until Dawn 2 from FireSprite and Sony Interactive Entertainment, whose release date was recently confirmed for January 28.
4A Games has unveiled brand-new gameplay footage from Metro 2039 recorded on a PlayStation 5 Pro console. They confirmed that the game supports 4K resolution and 60 FPS on the PlayStation 5 Pro, along with ray tracing. According to the press release, this actually applies to both the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X. Perhaps this means the PlayStation 5 Pro will run the game more smoothly, or maybe there are other graphical enhancements that haven’t been revealed yet. In any case, the game understandably won the Best Graphics award at Gamescom, once again proving the studio’s technical excellence (we’ve already written about the list of winners).
Metro 2039 will be released on February 4 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
