Grand Theft Auto VI: A Prominent Analyst Claims it Will Come at a Steep Price!

Since this analyst has been around for about two decades, maybe there is some truth in what he says about Rockstar and Take-Two’s game…

Michael Pachter, director of equity research firm Wedbush Securities, thinks that Take-Two could charge $100 for Grand Theft Auto VI! The analyst thinks that the integration of Grand Theft Auto Online with Rockstar’s game could make Take-Two resort to this.

And this could trigger another avalanche: back in August 2020, the Strauss Zelnick-led publisher decided to make the current-gen (PlayStation 5/Xbox Series) version of NBA 2K21 available for $70 instead of $60, a price that many other publishers have started to apply. Grand Theft Auto VI was previously rumored to be priced between $80 and $100, so what Pachter claims can’t be a coincidence…

“We believe the company has plans to sell the game at an unprecedented price point, and suggest that management can incentivize consumers to pay $100 or more per unit by rewarding them with a large amount of in-game currency to spend in Grand Theft Auto Online. There is precedent for integrating an online game experience with a premium game, as Activision did so with both Call of Duty Warzone and Call of Duty Mobile content prior to the release of its annual Call of Duty premium installment. In Activision’s case, the integration led to a 40% increase in sales of premium (paid) Call of Duty titles; in Take-Two’s case, we believe a successful integration of Grand Theft Auto Online and Grand Theft Auto VI can lead to a $100 price point for the premium game,” Pachter wrote.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release this fall (September to November) for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. Take-Two doesn’t even mention the PC version.
