A New Star Wars Strategy Game From Respawn and Former Firaxis Developers Is About to Be Revealed

If you’re a fan of Star Wars and sci-fi strategy games, get ready: Respawn and a team of former Firaxis developers are unveiling a brand-new tactical title. Announced in 2022, this game will be showcased at Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025.

Good news for Star Wars and strategy game enthusiasts. More than three years have passed since Respawn Entertainment first announced it was working on a tactical Star Wars title. The project is being developed in partnership with Bit Reactor, a studio formed by ex-Firaxis veterans known for their work on Civilization and XCOM. While the project has remained under wraps for a long time, we finally have a confirmed date for its first public reveal.

Disney is putting the finishing touches on Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025, a major event dedicated to celebrating the franchise’s legacy. The festival will include fan screenings, industry panels, and various other activities. Among its most anticipated moments is a special presentation on April 19, where Respawn and Bit Reactor’s new Star Wars game will be officially unveiled.

Although details remain scarce, the organizers of Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025 have promised fans a “first look” at the new title. This suggests that we will finally get to see what kind of tactical strategy experience the developers have been working on.

Star Wars: Hunters Is Shutting Down Its Servers

While the Star Wars franchise continues to expand with major upcoming projects like the Star Wars: KOTOR remake and Quantic Dream’s Star Wars: Eclipse, not every title manages to survive. Just recently, the developers of Star Wars: Hunters announced that they are shutting down the game’s servers for good. Additionally, the planned Steam release, which was originally set for January, has been canceled. This marks the quiet end of a project that never truly gained traction.
