Michael Fassbender Revealed What Caught His Eye in Black Bag

MOVIE NEWS – Already this spring, the spy thriller The Black Bag is considered one of the best films of the year, and it has earned the highest praise from critics in every respect. The heroes of the story are elite intelligence officers who are also loving spouses who would literally kill for each other. Since they are forced to keep secrets from each other for professional reasons, they hide everything they cannot talk about in the symbolic black bag by mutual agreement.

George (Michael Fassbender) is one day assigned the task of finding out who the traitor is in the organization. His wife (Cate Blanchett) is also on the list of five suspects, Kathryn. The two spies begin a highly tense game of cat and mouse, where the creators were also very interested in how the psychological drama of the couple under incredible pressure will develop. In fact, critics who are enthusiastic about the film point out that this is the main focus of the story.

Fassbender was immediately captivated by the unusually high standard of the script written by David Koepp (Jurassic Park). “First of all, the cast of characters was amazing,” the actor explained to IndieWire. “It was immediately clear that this story was aimed at a more mature audience, that movies don’t really appeal to these days. The breakneck pace of the events in the book was also incredibly exciting, while the clever and entertaining dialogue just kept pouring in. I was also impressed by the fact that, while we are in the spy genre, the story is not driven by action scenes, but by the psychological warfare that takes place between the two incredibly exciting protagonists. There are quite a few violent scenes, of course, but the real driving force is the way these two unparalleled intellects clash and engage in sparkling verbal battles.”
