Two third-party games have been added to the launch line-up for the next-generation console from the big N, and they’re titles already available on other platforms.
Konami has announced that Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars, which was released on March 6 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store), PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, has been added to the Nintendo Switch 2 launch lineup. Pre-orders have already started in Japan, but the more relevant info for us is that it’s a game key cartridge, meaning you’ll need an internet connection to download the full game.
It runs at 2560×1440 resolution in docked mode and 1920×1080 in handheld mode. In both cases, the frame rate is 60 FPS. Note: If you already own Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars for Nintendo Switch, you will not be able to upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 version. Also, saves will not be compatible with the new port, so this seems like a bit of a money-grabbing move on Konami’s part…
SEGA is also joining the Nintendo Switch 2 lineup, as the Japanese company has announced that Sonic x Shadow Generations will be included in the launch lineup for the new console. Priced at $50, the game has been available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch since October 25. Compared to the Nintendo Switch version, the next-generation version will feature improved graphics and new bonus content. Yes, that’s all SEGA released, so there are no details about resolutions and frame rates. As if they don’t even know what to expect.
So, Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification, as well as Sonic x Shadow Generations will be available on the Nintendo Switch 2 from June 5th. Unfortunately, there are a lot of cases where you hear that the cartridge editions require a download (Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition is an exception).
