Two Big Surprises for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Fans—And One Might Be on the Big Screen!

There’s double the good news for fans of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33—DLC isn’t off the table, and the developers are eyeing a completely new format. Jennifer Svedberg-Yen, lead writer at Sandfall Interactive, says she’s still stunned by the game’s success but admits that additional content is very much a possibility. If you’re a fan of Clair Obscur, you might want to keep your eyes peeled—because more content could be on the horizon.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has taken the RPG world by storm, thanks to its emotionally charged story, unforgettable cast, and a turn-based combat system fused with real-time mechanics that pay homage to classics like Final Fantasy and Persona. With this debut project, French developer Sandfall Interactive has made a serious impact. In just a few days, the game has already climbed to a Metacritic score of 92, ranking it among the highest-rated releases of 2025. Its future looks all but guaranteed.

In a reply to a fan on Instagram, Jennifer Svedberg-Yen gave players fresh hope for more content. With over a million copies sold, the chances of a DLC expansion are growing stronger. While nothing official has been confirmed, Svedberg-Yen was optimistic, stating that the odds of a DLC are “good.”

“I can’t really say anything specific right now—we’re honestly still trying to process what’s happening. It’s a lot. We’ve always said that if players truly want more, we’d love to give them something extra, and judging by the feedback so far, I’d say the chances are good.” For now, the Sandfall Interactive team is focusing on post-launch patches and stabilization, so fans will need to be patient for further updates.
