Borderlands 4: Release Brought Forward; State of Play Today! [VIDEO]

The game from Gearbox Software and 2K (=Take-Two) will reach players a little earlier than planned.

Borderlands 4 will get a State of Play broadcast. This will start today, April 30th, at 11 pm UK time and can be watched via the video embedded below, but we’ll probably be back with more news tomorrow. We’ll have over 20 minutes of new footage, with weapons, abilities, and missions sure to make an appearance.

Gearbox Software and Take-Two have brought the release date closer, which could strongly suggest that a Grand Theft Auto VI release date has been set in the background. Borderlands 4 was previously scheduled for release on September 23, but forget that: the new release date is September 12 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. The Nintendo Switch 2 hasn’t been forgotten either: a port will be made for it as well, but it’s still only confirmed that it will be released in 2025 for the Japanese company’s next-gen platform (certainly after the other versions have been released).

What does that have to do with Grand Theft Auto VI? Well, it will also be published by Take-Two. The official word at the moment is that it’s coming to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series in the fall of 2025. The PC port hasn’t been announced yet, and it’s possible that it will NOT come to PC in 2026, but in 2027, as Rockstar games tend to take quite some time to port from consoles to PC. If Borderlands 4 has been moved up by Take-Two, it means that the publisher doesn’t want to be too close to the release of Grand Theft Auto VI, the most anticipated release in the gaming industry…

Borderlands 4 will be released on September 12, 11 days earlier than the original for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. The Nintendo Switch 2 port will arrive sometime in late 2025.
