“This changes everything,” says the director of Expedition 33, who sees the RPG’s breakout success as a wave of opportunity. According to Sandfall Interactive CEO Guillaume Broche, a Switch 2 version of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is very much on the table.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 exploded onto the RPG scene with style, offering something fresh and striking in a crowded genre. Critics and fans alike have praised the game, calling it one of 2025’s best titles so far. Even though Sandfall Interactive is still ironing out bugs and refining the overall experience, players are already looking ahead, eager to know what’s next for this promising new IP.
Switch 2 is in their sights
In a recent interview, Guillaume Broche, CEO of the French studio, hinted at a possible port to Nintendo’s Switch 2. He explained that the game’s commercial performance had opened up new opportunities—among them, a potential Switch version. While no official confirmation was given, Broche made it clear the option is under consideration.
“Well, at this point, considering the success of the game, it kind of changes everything. So, clearly, it’s too early to say, but we’re in a situation where… let’s say there are a lot of opportunities coming up, too many at once, and we’re evaluating which ones we’ll take advantage of and which ones we won’t. But yeah, it’s definitely something that could be interesting,” Broche told MP1ST regarding a possible Switch port.
A few weeks ago, reports also surfaced that DLC for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is being considered. While nothing has been finalized, the developers are already brainstorming ideas for future expansions. One of the most surprising developments is the potential for a live-action Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 film, as revealed by Variety. The adaptation is reportedly being produced by Story Kitchen, the studio behind the Sonic movies.
