On June 25, Disney+ will welcome the latest thrilling Marvel series, Ironheart, with Dominique Thorne starring as Riri Williams, the brilliant young inventor whose suit can compete with the MCU’s mightiest heroes. The character was first introduced to audiences in 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, directed by Ryan Coogler.
Created by Brian Michael Bendis in 2016 to continue Iron Man’s legacy, Riri Williams—a student at MIT—develops a unique bond with Tony Stark in the comics. Despite vastly different backgrounds, their shared passion for improving society brings them together. Ironheart eventually became an independent hero, and under writers like Eve Ewing, her new adventures unfolded in Chicago.
Set after the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Ironheart pits technology against magic as Riri, determined to prove her worth, returns to her hometown. Her ingenious armor designs make her a target, and her path soon crosses with the enigmatic and powerful Parker Robbins, aka The Hood (Anthony Ramos).
The cast also features Lyric Ross, Alden Ehrenreich, Regan Aliyah, Manny Montana, Matthew Elam, and Anji White. The series is written by Chinaka Hodge and directed by Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes. Executive producers include Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Zoie Nagelhout, Chinaka Hodge, Ryan Coogler, Sev Ohanian, and Zinzi Coogler. Music by Dara Taylor. Produced with Proximity Media, Ironheart premieres on Disney+ June 25, 2025.
