Lies of P devs get bonus, paid holiday and Switch 2 consoles for hitting sales milestone. The game and its Overture DLC have sold 3 million copies combined.
The developers behind Lies of P are getting a rare reward package after smashing through 3 million sales of the base game and Overture DLC. According to South Korea’s The Elec, both Neowiz and Round8 Studio will celebrate this achievement by showering their staff with hefty bonuses and perks.
While last year’s announcement claimed the game had reached 7 million players, much of that came from its Xbox Game Pass debut, where millions played via subscription. Now, counting only real sales—physical and digital—on PC and consoles, Lies of P has surpassed the 3 million mark.
To celebrate, Neowiz is giving every dev an early 10 million KRW (roughly $7,300) launch bonus and an extra two weeks of paid vacation, on top of Korea’s legally required 15 days. Plus, every Round8 Studio team member gets a Nintendo Switch 2 console as an extra reward for the achievement.
The Lies of P: Overture DLC, which debuted at Summer Game Fest, serves as a prequel to the main game. VGC’s review says it shakes up the Soulslike genre with new difficulty levels—both easier and harder than before.
“A sequel to Lies of P is currently in development, and Lies of P: Overture serves as a great intermission between the two acts,” VGC wrote. “The zoo is a great location for an expansion, and extremely well designed, and the new additions to the enemy roster will give players dozens of new patterns to learn and attacks to dodge.”
“Lies of P’s new difficulty system is perhaps the most interesting addition of the whole package, and one that has the potential to bring a new audience to a beloved genre. At the same time, the harder difficulty levels of the new Battle Memories mode will give players a chance to sharpen their skills before the full sequel to the game arrives.”
