TECH NEWS – Microsoft isn’t just working with Asus: a newly leaked VR headset featuring Xbox branding is reportedly just days away from launch.
A limited edition Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition may soon hit store shelves. Zuby_Tech leaked images of the headset on Twitter, and according to reports, it could launch as soon as June 24. Game Sandwich notes that the headset features a black-and-green color scheme, and the bundle will include a matching Elite Strap, an Xbox wireless controller, and a three-month subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
The headset will offer 128 GB of storage, the same as the standard Meta Quest 3S, and it will retail for $399—which roughly translates to 215,000 HUF in Hungary.
Meta opened its VR operating system to third-party manufacturers back in April 2024. At the time, Asus announced plans to create a ROG-branded high-performance VR headset, though no new details have surfaced about that project since. Meta also confirmed that a limited edition Xbox-branded Meta Quest was in the works—likely the model leaked now.
Microsoft has already made moves to bring Meta Quest users into the Xbox ecosystem. At the end of 2023, Xbox Cloud Gaming became available on the headset, allowing Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to stream games and play them as if on a massive virtual 2D screen. Streaming is supported at 1080p resolution and 60 FPS.
All of this is part of Microsoft’s larger strategy to bring the Xbox experience to any screen-capable device—whether it’s a TV, smartphone, or VR headset. While the Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition is unlikely to dramatically shift the landscape, it’s yet another step toward a cross-platform, screen-agnostic future.
