It was meant to be a unique fantasy MMORPG, but it’s not what it seems. Players warn that Chrono Odyssey must be delayed. Chrono Odyssey launches this year, but the MMO’s closed beta shows it’s a title in desperate need of a delay and multiple improvements.
Remember Chrono Odyssey? It’s the fantasy MMORPG that stunned everyone with hyper-realistic Unreal Engine 5 trailers. At Summer Game Fest 2025, it reappeared to announce a playable weekend beta in June. As the beta wraps up, most players aren’t happy with what they’ve seen from this game, which is still slated for release this year.
Reddit users who spent hours with the Chrono Odyssey closed beta say that, despite its promise of realistic visuals, the final product is a far cry from the trailers and early gameplay. Complaints include performance issues and poorly designed textures—though that’s just the start.
Combat is described as stiff, with awkward animations and a limited skill set reminiscent of New World. Players say the MMO lacks any real personality, not because of bugs, but because of repetitive quests and a vast, empty world. “It feels like it was made for consoles first. It’s New World 0.5. I’m disappointed. This game just has no soul.”
While Chrono Odyssey is still on track for a 2025 release and may address bugs before launch, the community insists that a delay is the only way to fulfill the promises made, especially in terms of graphics, which do not resemble the original trailers. Unless NPIXEL works a miracle, this game will not be ready this year; players are demanding a delay so they can finally receive what was promised years ago.
