Skate Story: Get Ready to Ride Through Hell in Style [VIDEO]

Sam Eng and Devolver Digital have set a release date for their surreal skateboarding adventure Skate Story — and dropped a brand-new demo as part of Steam Next Fest. The game places you in the cracked, shimmering skin of a demon made of glass and pain, cursed to skate through the underworld on a journey to the moon. The Devil’s deal is simple: reach the moon, swallow it, and earn your freedom.

In Skate Story, every kickflip, grind, and ollie carries spiritual weight. You’ll skate across the ash and smoke of the Emptylands, learning to master your body’s momentum and balance as you take on the underworld’s twisted landscapes. “The Devil gave you a skateboard. Skate to the Moon. Swallow it. And you shall be free.” That’s the haunting mantra that defines this stunningly strange journey through glass, demons, and redemption.

The game invites players to embrace the ritualistic art of skateboarding — not just as a sport, but as transcendence. Destroy grotesque demons, help a forgetful frog, and save tortured souls as you evolve from fragile rookie to hardened skater. Along the way, you’ll uncover the Devil’s greatest weakness: humility, perseverance, and an impossibly sweet backside tailslide.

All of this unfolds to a hypnotic soundtrack featuring the New York-based artist Blood Cultures and John Fio, propelling you through nine surreal layers of the underworld filled with waxed ledges, unholy gaps, and screaming spirits. With more than 70 tricks to learn, fully upgradable decks, and countless creative challenges, Skate Story transforms hell into a playground for style, rhythm, and rebellion.

Skate Story launches December 8 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. A free demo is now live on Steam through the Steam Next Fest.
