The anniversary bundle brings no headline upgrades while the price jumps – Steam is now flooded with takedowns and frustrated reviews.
With Fallout fever rising again and long-running chatter about a Fallout 3 revamp still swirling, Bethesda chose to spotlight the fourth entry’s Anniversary Edition on the series’ day. Alongside service-style updates to 76 and Shelter and a physical New Vegas, this became the American studio’s marquee announcement.
The new build is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, with clear signs pointing to a Nintendo Switch 2 release next year. Priced at €59.99 instead of the base game’s €19.99, it includes six official add-ons and 150+ Creation Club items – roughly €20 more than the bundle with five expansions if you leave out the Fallout Pass, which sits at around 65% negative on Steam.
The higher price without fresh features has infuriated many. A quick scan of Valve’s forums shows blistering posts: some argue that by not splitting legacy builds from the Anniversary Edition, Bethesda effectively forced an update that breaks mods and spawns fresh bugs. Others claim the company “continues to betray fans in its pursuit of greed”, while one especially harsh verdict calls the patch “a load of literally nothing”.
Two complaints keep surfacing: paid “mod packs” – the Creation Club – being used to reset the game’s price, and the absence of technical upgrades like HDR or DLSS. Many players feel those additions could have justified the hike.
The review trend tells the story: on Steam, recent reviews are only about 63% positive, and narrowing to yesterday and today, the figure barely reaches 25%. That is a stinging blow for Bethesda on the very day Todd Howard also reminded fans that Elder Scrolls VII is still years away.
