With notorious treasure-hunters swarming the region, this time it’s not just about grabbing an artifact first, it’s about stopping the wrong people from turning it into the kind of power that can rewrite tomorrow.
Publisher Amazon Games and developer Crystal Dynamics have announced Tomb Raider: Catalyst for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC (Steam). The game is slated to launch in 2027.
Development at Crystal Dynamics traces back to the partnership with Amazon Game Studios that was first made public in 2022. In Tomb Raider: Catalyst, Lara Croft is pulled into a new adventure across Northern India after a mythical catastrophe unleashes long-hidden truths, and stirs the mysterious forces tasked with guarding them.
As some of the world’s most infamous treasure-hunters descend on the area, Lara races to uncover what lies beneath a fractured landscape and to stop anyone who would exploit the newly awakened power for personal gain. With the ancient world colliding with the present, she must weigh rivals and allies alike, choosing who to trust as she tries to prevent another disaster and to protect a secret capable of reshaping the future.
Built in Unreal Engine 5, Tomb Raider: Catalyst is described as the largest Tomb Raider world to date. Lara will move through a secret-packed environment, push deeper into lost tombs loaded with intricate puzzles, and piece together ancient mysteries using her unmatched brilliance, backed by richly customizable adventure tech. The story aims to work for longtime fans and newcomers, and leans into a trust-and-betrayal arc that puts Lara through new kinds of pressure.
Amazon also confirmed that both Tomb Raider: Catalyst and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will feature acclaimed actress Alix Wilton Regan as Lara Croft, known for her work in Dragon Age: Inquisition, Cyberpunk 2077, and Mass Effect 3.
An announcement trailer is available now, alongside the first screenshots.
