Since this is also a live service game, Electronic Arts obviously has to keep expanding it on an ongoing basis…
Battlefield Studios has unveiled the 2026 roadmap for Battlefield 6. Season 3 begins in May, and two classic maps return in reworked form. Railway to Golmud, from Battlefield 4, is set in post-campaign Tajikistan. It is the biggest map in Battlefield 6 so far, nearly four times the size of Mirak Valley, with expanded airspace, new cover, and room for long-range and cross-border engagements. It is already available in Battlefield Labs. Cairo Bazaar, a reworked version of Battlefield 3‘s Grand Bazaar, is a close-quarters map with narrow streets, buildings designed for deadly ambushes, and the series’ trademark destruction.
Season 3 also introduces BR Solos as an official Battle Royale Solo mode, along with BR Ranked Play & Leaderboards, which will first appear in Battle Royale Quads in Redsec. Battlefield Studios plans to expand the Ranked Play experience into Battlefield 6‘s multiplayer suite in future seasons. Season 4 launches in July and brings the previously teased naval warfare into Battlefield 6. The two new maps are Tsuru Reef, an all-new battleground and the largest in the series to date with vast air and sea zones, and Wake Island, the return of one of the most beloved maps in franchise history. Naval gameplay features include aircraft carriers with functional flight decks, new naval vehicles, and a dynamic wave system that increases the intensity of sea combat. Spectator mode and custom lobbies also debut in Season 4.
Battlefield 6‘s Season 5 closes out 2026 in the fall with a setting never before seen in the series, and it will deliver three maps within a single season. A wide range of quality-of-life features will also arrive over the course of the year, including Proximity Chat, which lets players overhear enemies for tactical purposes, the return of Platoons for improved team organization, the long-awaited Server Browser with persistent servers and custom pre-match lobbies, and MP Leaderboards. Ongoing improvements are also being made to combat settings, soldier visibility, matchmaking, challenges, and progression, while New Sobek and Blackwell Fields are being reworked based on feedback from Labs.
Finally, the developers confirmed that the Open and Elite competitive series, the highest level of Battlefield competition, will launch later this year once ranked play has been introduced and refined further using feedback from the Battlefield 6 community.
