Bloober Team Is Stirring Up Cronos: The New Dawn Rumors Again, and It Clearly Knows Exactly What It’s Doing

After winning horror fans over with Silent Hill 2 Remake and then doing it again with Cronos: The New Dawn, Bloober Team now seems to be deliberately toying with its audience. Over the past few hours, the studio has posted two cryptic messages that instantly fueled speculation, with players already jumping to the idea of a DLC. There is still no official announcement, but Bloober has very obviously thrown bait into the water and is now watching the community tear into it.

The whole thing started on April 16, when the studio shared an image on X showing the Traveler, the protagonist of Cronos: The New Dawn, alongside the phrase The loop persists. Fans immediately latched not only onto the wording, but also onto the LZRS 28 code visible in the image, which quickly kicked off speculation around the Lazarus Protocol, a concept already mentioned early in the game itself.

Two Posts Were Enough to Kick Off DLC Speculation

Then, on April 17, Bloober Team doubled down. The studio posted another image, once again featuring the LZRS 28 marker, and paired it with phrases such as the mystery remains unsolved and the future holds more answers. At that point, the community barely needed any additional encouragement. Bloober had already made sure players would start dissecting every word. While some initially wondered whether this could point to a sequel, that theory quickly began to lose ground.

The main reason is that Bloober Team leadership had already said back in September 2025 that there were no immediate plans for a direct Cronos sequel. That does not rule out future developments entirely, but it makes the current mystery feel much more like a teaser for some kind of expansion, story DLC, or additional content rather than a brand-new game. A lot of players are leaning in exactly that direction, and not without reason, because the clues Bloober is dropping feel far more tied to unfinished threads in the existing world than to a full new installment.

Something Is Coming, and Bloober Seems to Be Enjoying the Silence

There is also another angle to consider, since Fortnite is already expected to get a Cronos-inspired Traveler skin in April. Even so, the posts Bloober Team is putting out right now seem far too deeply rooted in the game’s own mythology and unresolved mysteries to feel like nothing more than a setup for a cosmetic crossover with Epic Games. This looks much more like the studio is deliberately hinting at something bigger.

One thing is certain: Bloober Team is not exactly short on things to juggle right now. The studio has already spoken publicly about its expansion, about handling multiple projects at once, and about treating 2026 as an especially intense year. The team behind Cronos: The New Dawn is also known to be working on a new original title called Project H, while several other developments are progressing elsewhere inside the company. All of that only strengthens the sense that this little mystery campaign is not accidental. Bloober Team is clearly preparing something, and it knows perfectly well how to keep tension alive until it finally decides to say what it is.
