The Division Resurgence: Ubisoft Has Suddenly Released A Free The Division Game On PC

Ubisoft has made The Division Resurgence available on PC with almost no prior warning, even though the game had previously only been playable on Android and iOS. The free-to-play shooter is now running in early access through Ubisoft Connect, complete with crossplay and cross-progression.

PC players can now try The Division Resurgence. The title launched in late March on Android and iOS mobile platforms, but Ubisoft has decided to expand its reach with a PC version that is already playable as a free-to-play early access release. The French publisher’s move is especially surprising because no PC launch had previously been announced, meaning players have effectively received access to this new shooter experience through Ubisoft Connect without any major build-up.

According to Ubisoft’s official statement, one of the most frequent requests from The Division Resurgence fans was the ability to play the shooter on PC, so the team worked hard to make that happen. The PC version has not arrived as a detached, isolated release either: it includes crossplay and cross-progression, meaning users can play together across Android, iOS, and PC, while continuing their progress on any device through the same Ubisoft Connect account.

The Division Resurgence, however, has only just taken its first step into the PC ecosystem. Ubisoft’s plan is to fine-tune the shooter experience during the early access phase, then release the final PC version alongside the start of Season 2. There is no exact date yet, but players can expect that fuller launch sometime in August.

New York Has Collapsed Again, And The Division Is Back At Work

For anyone who has not been following The Division Resurgence closely, this entry is a new PvPvE installment in The Division universe, sending players into action-packed encounters and a shared open-world version of New York City. As members of the Division, players must help restore order after an unstoppable pandemic has brought the United States to its knees. The setup is familiar, but Resurgence aims to carry that formula forward from its mobile foundation into a version that is now also available on PC.

In gameplay terms, The Division Resurgence is a third-person shooter with more than 100 activities. These are built around both world exploration and combat, while the game also includes player progression, exclusive rewards, and several game modes designed to keep users engaged over the long term. In other words, this is not just a minor side branch, but an installment that tries to make The Division’s atmosphere and core mechanics work within a free-to-play framework across multiple platforms.

The PC release is only one part of Ubisoft’s plans for The Division Resurgence. The company has already confirmed the roadmap for the current Season 1, which will add new Special Ops missions, challenges, brand-new gear sets, and exotic weapon skins throughout May and June. Players will also gain access to Classified Ops Pass 1.2 on May 12, followed by Classified Ops Pass 1.3 on June 23.

Season 2 will begin in August, arriving alongside the final PC version of The Division Resurgence. To close out 2026, the developers are also promising a story-focused expansion, scheduled for release sometime in December, that will further expand the base experience. The unexpected PC early access launch therefore does not look like a one-off experiment, but the beginning of a longer-term new phase for the game.
