TECH NEWS – Nvidia’s technology triumphed in six out of seven games, and the audience gave similarly positive reviews.
A blind test conducted by Computer Base revealed that gamers often perceive DLSS 4.5‘s image quality as superior to FSR 4.1‘s. DLSS 4.5 is Nvidia’s leading upscaling technology, while FSR 4.1 is AMD’s. These technologies have proven to be incredibly effective in terms of visual quality. Unlike previous versions, both deliver the best possible image quality through improved sharpness, noise reduction, and motion clarity.
However, it can be difficult to determine which offers better quality without a side-by-side comparison. Computer Base previously conducted such a comparison, and DLSS 4.5 won easily. In the new test, gamers could view gameplay footage with clips of FSR 4.0, FSR 4.1, and DLSS 4.5 placed side by side. Users could compare the results in split-screen mode and vote for the scene with the best image quality from seven different AAA titles.
After collecting user feedback from games such as Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Anno 117: Pax Romana, Arc Raiders, Resident Evil Requiem, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, and The Last of Us Part I, the final results were published. The poll revealed that, in most cases, players preferred DLSS 4.5 for its superior visual quality. FSR 4.1 came in second in most cases, while FSR 4.0 remained in third in every game.
The Last of Us Part I was the only game in which DLSS 4.5 fell short of FSR 4.1, with a significant difference in the number of votes between the two upscaling techniques. Many people voted for the “No difference” option, suggesting that most players do not notice the visual differences.
Nevertheless, it appears that, in most cases, the latest Transformer model in DLSS 4.5 performs exceptionally well. Despite FSR 4.1 showing significant improvement over FSR 4.0, the majority of gamers still prefer Nvidia’s upscaler.
