MOVIE NEWS – Matt Reeves has begun confirming the cast of The Batman – Part II, and the returning names are now being joined by several major newcomers. Robert Pattinson is, of course, back as Bruce Wayne, but Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Charles Dance, Sebastian Koch, and Brian Tyree Henry are also part of the expanding picture, while the story appears to be moving closer to the Dent family and a colder, snow-covered Gotham.
As The Batman – Part II officially moves toward production this summer, Matt Reeves has finally started confirming who will appear in the long-awaited DC sequel. The director previously unveiled a first look at the project that pointed toward a winter setting, and fans have been watching closely to see how this darker, grounded Gotham will continue to evolve. Reeves has been using X to post GIFs of the cast members, beginning with Robert Pattinson, before moving through many of the returning names from 2022’s The Batman and several new additions. The sequel is already dominating social media discussion because this is starting to look less like a cautious follow-up and more like a much broader Gotham crime story.
The currently known cast list is as follows:
- Robert Pattinson – Bruce Wayne / Batman
- Andy Serkis – Alfred Pennyworth
- Jeffrey Wright – James Gordon
- Colin Farrell – Oz Cobb / The Penguin
- Jayme Lawson – Bella Reál
- Gil Perez-Abraham – Officer Martinez
- Scarlett Johansson – rumored to be Gilda Dent
- Sebastian Stan – Harvey Dent / Two-Face
- Charles Dance – Christopher Dent
- Sebastian Koch – undisclosed role
- Brian Tyree Henry – undisclosed role
The Batman – Part II was announced back in April 2022, but after several release date delays, it is now officially set to arrive in theaters on October 1, 2027. Robert Pattinson recently wrapped his villain role in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Three, and he is now returning to Reeves’ Gotham. The upcoming DC sequel is expected to directly follow the events of the first film, as well as HBO’s The Penguin, though the exact timeframe has not yet been revealed. What has been confirmed is the winter setting, with Reeves teasing fans on social media that audiences will finally see the Dark Knight bruised and bloodied under heavy snow.
Official plot details for The Batman – Part II remain scarce, but recent reports suggest the sequel will push Bruce Wayne against a new threat that forces him to confront his own past in unexpected ways. Harvey Dent appears to be central to that direction, with the call sheet also pointing toward his wife, Gilda Dent, and his abusive father, Christopher Dent, as meaningful pieces of the puzzle. That immediately raises the possibility of influence from Batman: The Long Halloween, where the Dent family and a murder mystery play major roles. Reeves has already shown that he treats Batman less as a simple superhero property and more as a crime saga, so bringing the Dents into the story could mean the second film will dig even deeper into Gotham’s institutional rot.
