Konami, Evil Empire, and Motion Twin have announced that Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse will launch on October 15 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store. The Switch version will follow later in 2026, while pre-orders are now available in standard and Midnight editions.
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse finally has a firm release date. Published by Konami and developed by Evil Empire and Motion Twin, the new entry will arrive on October 15 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC, with the PC version available through Steam and the Microsoft Store. The Switch version has not been cancelled, but it will require a longer wait: Konami says it will launch later in 2026. Pre-orders are already live, with two digital editions available.
The Standard Edition costs $29.99, £24.99, €29.99, or ¥3,850, and includes a copy of the game. The Midnight Edition costs $39.99, £34.99, €39.99, or ¥4,950, and includes the game, a Digital Sound and Art Gallery, and several in-game bonuses: the Trevor Style Costume, the Sypha Style Costume, and the Family’s Grace Relic. Pre-orders for both editions also include the Alucard Style Costume as an in-game bonus item.
1499, Paris, Fire, and a New Belmont
The story is set in medieval Paris in 1499, where the tolling bells no longer simply mark the passing of time, but seem to herald the end. The city is engulfed in flames as monstrous creatures suddenly emerge from the shadows. Trevor Belmont, the hero who defeated Dracula, ventures into the burning streets with his daughter, Rose Belmont. Armed with the legendary holy whip, the Vampire Killer, father and daughter hunt down the beasts pouring from the looming castle above the city.
Rose is soon swept into the dark conspiracy lurking beneath the chaos. The question is not merely how many monsters Trevor and Rose can destroy, but whether Rose can save Paris from devastation. That setup keeps the Belmont family legacy at the center of the game while making room for a new lead figure, one who appears to bring her own mechanics and narrative weight to the series rather than simply standing in someone else’s shadow.
Whips, Tarot, Arcana, and Seven Weapon Categories
The whip is, naturally, still central to the experience. According to Konami, Castlevania’s iconic whip action is more satisfying than ever: players will use it not only to attack, but also to move freely through the stages like a trapeze artist. In fast-paced combat, mastering the Vampire Killer’s mechanics will be essential, because the game is built around creative, aggressive movement and quick strikes against enemies.
The boss lineup includes several classic names. Death, Medusa, and Carmilla will appear alongside enigmatic new bosses such as Joan of Arc. Once defeated, bosses are sealed into Rose’s tarot cards and turned into Arcana. These Arcana allow players to cast spells and obtain unique special actions, meaning bosses are not only spectacular obstacles, but also part of Rose’s progression and combat toolkit.
Rose’s battle style can be customized through a variety of equipment. The game features weapons across seven distinct categories, alongside Relics that trigger powerful effects through both offense and defense. Konami says players will be able to combine equipment discovered through exploration to create their own playstyle, making Belmont’s Curse not just a reflex-driven action game, but also a matter of building the right relationship between weapons, Relics, and Arcana abilities.
The atmosphere carries forward the classic Gothic identity of Castlevania, but with new stages and a more vivid, refined visual approach. The maps will include both new features and familiar elements inspired by classic Castlevania games. Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse does not look like a cautious museum-piece return, but a new entry that moves the Belmont myth into Paris, tarot mysticism, and a faster, more flexible whip-based combat system.
