Starting in June, Sony will take a slightly different approach with players who subscribe to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium.
Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced the game lineup for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers, as well as an expansion of the Classics Catalog for Premium subscribers. Previously, game lineup updates were always released on the same day; however, Sony Interactive Entertainment is currently exploring the possibility of making games available at different times in certain markets. The full lineup will be available in all other regions starting June 16. In other words, not everything will arrive on a single day, but rather, it will be spread out slightly.
Sonic X Shadow Generations (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4) will be released on June 10 in the United States and the United Kingdom – presumably including Europe – and on June 11 in Japan. Final Fantasy XVI (PlayStation 5) launches worldwide on June 16. On June 23, Kingdom Come: Deliverance (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4) and Life is Strange: Double Exposure (PlayStation 5) will be released in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan. So, Europe isn’t included after all? Finally, Black Desert (PlayStation 5), Blades of Fire (PlayStation 5), and Farming Simulator 25 (PlayStation 5) will be released on June 30 in all three regions. These games will be available to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers.
Gitaroo Man (PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4), originally released on PS2, will be added to the PlayStation Plus Classics Catalog on June 16. This catalog is available only to PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers worldwide. Sony previously mentioned this during State of Play, so we reported that it would be the one monthly game this summer for those paying the most for PlayStation Plus.
Sony might be better off sticking with the old system. While there are quite a few major RPGs this month, they shouldn’t spread the lineup out like this. If Sony is copying Microsoft, it could easily announce the games leaving the lineup as well.
