Will Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Expand in the Style of Crimson Desert? [VIDEO]

It seems the French publisher will also adopt Pearl Abyss’s approach, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Although the game’s release was overshadowed by layoffs at Ubisoft Barcelona (the team responsible for the underwater sequences and water effects technology, among other things), there’s no denying the massive success of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced: more than two million copies were sold on the first day of release. Given this success, it’s no surprise that Ubisoft has plans for the game, but it is surprising that they are scrapping their established roadmap due to community feedback, following the example of Crimson Desert.

New Game Plus isn’t the only new feature coming to Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced; the team is also working on a feature that hides the snorkel. Although no other new features were confirmed during the interview, Richard Knight, director of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, revealed details suggesting that Pearl Abyss may have set a new standard for post-launch support in single-player, open-world games. According to Knight, the team is taking a flexible approach to deadlines and will consider introducing new content based on community feedback. This approach is similar to that of the South Korean studio with Crimson Desert (as mentioned in today’s news). One such addition could be the hidden blade combat familiar from the original game.

“We’re currently working on New Game Plus. It’s one of our top priorities, partly because the team behind Assassin’s Creed Shadows has already developed their own version. It’s a low-risk feature for us; it’s just such a natural addition. One of our most senior programmers is working on it. I have a feeling it’s coming soon. We’re listening to the community. We’re interested in what people want the most. During development, we prioritized core combat because we needed to perfect it. Given the cost of reinventing the feature and rebuilding it from the ground up with today’s characters, rigs, animation, cloth simulation, etc., there’s just a lot more that goes into it. So it was just a lower priority for us. But we’re definitely considering it,” Knight confirmed in an interview ahead of the launch of the 1.0.4 patch.

Since Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced lacks the extensive sandbox features of Crimson Desert and Ubisoft doesn’t have the same MMO experience as Pearl Abyss, it’s unlikely that the remake of the series’ fourth installment will continuously receive new features. Nevertheless, it’s good to hear that Ubisoft is listening to the community to further improve this solid game, which certainly deserves its current success.
