“It’s absolutely criminal!” – Final Fantasy 16 Actor Slams Lack of 60 FPS Version for Bloodborne

Ben Starr, the voice of Clive in Final Fantasy XVI, criticized the absence of a 60 FPS version of Bloodborne during the 2024 Golden Joystick Awards. “It’s absolutely criminal!” he said.

For many, Bloodborne is regarded as one of the greatest games of the past decade, leaving an indelible mark on the soulslike genre. Released in 2015 as a PlayStation 4 exclusive, the game has cultivated a passionate fan base that still longs to see the action RPG on other platforms. However, the lack of developments in this regard has frustrated many.

At the recent Golden Joystick Awards 2024 gala—where Black Myth Wukong was crowned Game of the Year—Ben Starr shared his thoughts on one of his favorite titles. During the event, he expressed his frustration that, nearly a decade after Bloodborne’s release, there is still no 60 FPS version available, either on PC or PlayStation 5. His remarks drew cheers from the audience.

“It’s absolutely criminal that we don’t have an official version of Bloodborne running at 60 FPS,” Starr stated (via GermanStrands). His comment resonated with the fan community, who have long called for the game to receive similar treatment to other major PlayStation franchises. Whether it’s a PC port, a PS5 version, a remaster, or a full-fledged remake, players are eager for Bloodborne to be revitalized.

Final Fantasy XVI Actor’s Love for Bloodborne

Back in May, Ben Starr took to X/Twitter to praise FromSoftware’s iconic title: “This is a reminder that Bloodborne is one of the best games ever.” Since then, fans have continued to wait in hope that Sony might take action with the Bloodborne IP. Many believe that a remake would not only breathe new life into the game but also attract a new generation of players who have yet to experience its unique appeal.
