Something wild may be brewing: sources suggest Ubisoft and PlayStation are secretly working on a crossover DLC where Jin Sakai and Naoe cross swords – or maybe fight side by side?
Two of gaming’s most iconic samurai might soon collide – or unite – in an epic crossover. Several Japanese and French forums have reported that Ghost of Tsushima and Assassin’s Creed Shadows developers are allegedly co-developing a special downloadable expansion. The project, if real, would bring together Jin Sakai and assassin Naoe in an alternate timeline where the Mongol invasion takes a darker, more conspiratorial turn.
According to the supposed leaks, the DLC would be titled Shadows of Tsushima and begin with the two protagonists mistakenly fighting one another – before engaging in an unforgettable katana duel that leads them to join forces against a secret Templar-Mongol alliance threatening both their lands.
The expansion would alternate between Jin’s and Naoe’s perspectives, even allowing players to experience the campaign in a full co-op mode. Reports suggest Jin could unlock stealthy assassin techniques, while Naoe could dabble in the samurai’s honor-based combat style. A new duel mechanic would let players pit the two heroes against each other in friendly – or not-so-friendly – sparring matches.
Fans exploded online over the idea, which would mark the first deep collaboration between a Ubisoft IP and a former PlayStation exclusive. Some Reddit users even claimed that Daisuke Tsuji (Jin Sakai) and Megumi Han (Naoe) had already begun voice and motion capture work.
The supposed announcement was set for an April 1 PlayStation Showcase, but details “accidentally” leaked early. The release, they say, is expected in late 2025 and would be available to both games’ owners — unless you subscribed to the mythical new “Ubisoft Tsushima Pass,” which definitely doesn’t exist. Yet.
And if you believed everything up until now… well, here’s the twist!
Happy April Fools’ Day! None of this is real, of course — but come on, wouldn’t it be incredible if it were?
