Toys for Bob is working with Xbox on a mysterious new project, but it’s not a new Crash or Spyro game. Instead, they’ve revealed which long-forgotten series they want to bring back to life.
Even without recent releases, Toys for Bob remains a standout name in platformers. With hits like Spyro Reignited Trilogy and Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, the studio had a strong reputation, though things shifted after Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard. That takeover marked a period of change and redefinition.
Following their split from Activision Blizzard, Toys for Bob went independent. Surprisingly, they also announced a new partnership with Xbox on an unannounced title. While fans hoped for another Crash or Spyro, the studio seems to have its sights set on another fan favorite from the past.
Banjo-Kazooie in the Crosshairs
In an interview with YouTuber CanadianGuyEh, creative director Paul Yan dropped a major hint. “Xbox has been a great partner, and they’ve got a lot of amazing characters we’d love to work with. I think we can all agree—Banjo has been in hibernation for way too long, right?” he said, suggesting clear interest in reviving Banjo-Kazooie.
As for the new project, Yan offered few details. Windows Central speculates a Spyro connection, but he only confirmed that “we’re deep in development. The team is excited about where it’s going. It’s big, bold, and pushing our abilities to new levels”. The reveal will come, he said, “when the time is right.”
