MOVIE NEWS – It’s likely that future media studies will look at how film marketing has become dominated by memes, viral videos, and one-off browser games. The original M3GAN is a perfect example, with its rapidly spreading dance scene and countless memes fueling massive hype long before its release—and that success was clear at the box office. Now, M3GAN 2.0 takes things further, offering even more meme-ready moments and visuals that seem tailor-made for instant online virality.

This is especially clear from the latest M3GAN 2.0 trailer, which Total Film’s Megan Garside found highly entertaining. “It’s packed with sequences that beg to be turned into memes or other shareable content for social media—and audiences won’t miss their chance,” she notes.

The sequel openly draws on the idea from Terminator 2, with the former killer robot returning in the role of protector against a new, even deadlier assassin. Of course, the story is filled with wild twists and bizarre developments, so the revived M3GAN’s battle against the new villain, Amelia, is set to surprise even those expecting just a standard upgrade of the original.
