[SGF 2025] Game of Thrones: War for Westeros – Finally, You Can Rewrite Westeros! [VIDEO]

Game of Thrones is finally getting the strategy game fans have always dreamed of — and this time, you’re the one who decides who rules the realm. Developed by Playside Studios, this real-time strategy title lets you change the fate of Westeros and even rewrite the show’s infamous ending.

Game of Thrones: War for Westeros took center stage at Summer Game Fest 2025, surprising everyone with its bold concept. Players can take command of powerful houses like the Starks, Lannisters, or Targaryens in a large-scale RTS experience driven by diplomacy, war, and shifting alliances. The trailer even teases wild choices like turning Jon Snow into a White Walker.

The developers have worked hand-in-hand with HBO to recreate the show’s cinematic tone and character likenesses. Player decisions will heavily influence the unfolding story, leading to betrayals, plot twists, and unique campaign outcomes that reshape the Seven Kingdoms.

Forget Total War — this is more Age of Empires in style. From the official website, we learn that the game blends real-time combat with city and alliance management. Whether you play solo or in multiplayer, your choices will define the battlefield and political map alike.

Coming from Playside Studios, best known for Age of Darkness: Final Stand, the title is scheduled for release on PC in fall 2026. There’s no word on a console version yet. If it delivers on its potential, War for Westeros could become the ultimate strategy adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s epic world.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
