Forza Horizon 6: Will the Announcement Come at the Next Major Gaming Event?

In a month’s time, Playground Games and Xbox Game Studios are likely to officially announce the next installment of Forza Horizon.

The unveiling of the next game in the Forza Horizon series is fast approaching. According to multiple sources, Forza Horizon 6 will be announced at the Tokyo Game Show. Windows Central was the first to report this. The publication claims to have seen documents that strongly suggest it: “We’ve seen official, widely circulated documents strongly suggesting that Forza Horizon 6 is actually planned to be announced during the 2025 Tokyo Game Show, an annual gaming conference in Japan at the end of September,” it wrote.

Another insider, NateTheHate, corroborated the Windows Central rumor, adding that he was not sure whether a Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game was in development. A Tokyo announcement would make sense if the recently leaked information about the game’s setting proves accurate. In other words, Japan cannot be a coincidence…

An Australian car import company, Cult & Classic, posted and then deleted a social media message suggesting that Forza Horizon 6 would be set in Japan. While this further fueled speculation, it is important to treat the information with caution until Microsoft confirms it. In any case, Tom Henderson, editor of Insider Gaming, confirmed on Twitter that these internal documents have indeed been circulating online in the past week, thanks to one extremely disgruntled Xbox employee…

Additionally, we’ve heard rumors that Forza Horizon will no longer be considered a spin-off, as Turn 10 Studios—developers of Forza Motorsport—were reportedly downgraded to a support team during Microsoft’s July layoffs of 9,000 employees. This would essentially kill the original franchise, Forza Motorsport, after eight installments (the most recent simply titled Forza Motorsport). For now, however, this remains just a rumor…
