Valheim: Viking Survival Coming to PlayStation 5! [VIDEO]

Iron Gate Studio and Coffee Stain Publishing have confirmed that Valheim, the Viking survival phenomenon with over 12 million copies sold, is set to launch on PlayStation 5 in 2026.

Valheim is a survival and exploration game for one to ten players, set in a procedurally generated purgatory inspired by Viking mythology. Developed by Sweden-based indie studio Iron Gate and published by Coffee Stain Publishing — known for hits like Satisfactory and Deep Rock Galactic — the game challenges players to battle, build, and leave behind a legacy in the Tenth Realm. Since its Early Access debut in 2021, Valheim has been met with critical acclaim, earning a 94% “Very Positive” rating on Steam, backed by over 477,000 reviews and more than 12 million copies sold.

Over the course of Early Access, Valheim has been expanded with multiple major updates. Hearth & Home refined survival and base-building mechanics, Mistlands introduced a fog-draped biome filled with dangerous foes and a new magic system, while Ashlands pushed players into a fiery wasteland full of deadly threats. The most recent update, Call to Arms, revealed at IGN’s Gamescom showcase, overhauled the combat system and added new weapons, armor, enemies, and crafting materials.

“We’re thrilled for Valheim to reach even more players with the upcoming launch on PlayStation. Bringing both new and longtime players to a new platform will allow more people to explore the world we’ve worked so hard to build. We can’t wait to hear their stories as they dive into their Viking adventures,” wrote Henrik Tornqvist, Iron Gate Studio co-founder, in the press release.

Valheim has been available in Early Access on PC since February 2, 2021, before releasing on Xbox Series and Xbox One on March 14, 2023. PlayStation 5 owners can expect it sometime in 2026. The big question remains: when will it arrive on Nintendo Switch 2?

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
