Electronic Arts’ game got off to a flying start, and the publisher is eager to maintain its momentum. EA has announced another initiative.
Following the release of the second major update for Battlefield 6, Electronic Arts will allow players who have not yet purchased the new game, which can be considered a return for the Battlefield franchise, to try out the classic multiplayer mode, specifically the flagship All-Out Warfare mode, for free for a week. The free trial begins tomorrow, November 25, and lasts until December 2. Players can try five different game modes on three maps, including the two most recently released maps: Blackwell Fieldset and Eastwood.
“From November 25 to December 2, ultimate all-out warfare will be free for everyone. Fight in intense urban combat on the streets of Cairo. Drop into iconic SoCal landscapes turned into battlegrounds on Eastwood and Blackwell Fields. Experience Battlefield’s massive-scale warfare in Conquest or Breakthrough,” reads a blog post on the Battlefield 6 website.
The free trial launches less than two weeks after the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which, according to early sales reports, did not achieve the expected commercial success. As we previously reported, Activision Blizzard’s (or should we say Microsoft’s?) latest game has been particularly disappointing in the European Union. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 fell 63% short of Battlefield 6‘s first-week sales in the EU. This difference is significant, and it is to an extent that nobody should just ignore right from the get-go.
Call of Duty isn’t doing well, and the audience criticized the use of AI-generated art assets again after last year’s installment. Meanwhile, Battlefield 6 topped that with a free week, which is surprising so soon after the game’s release. It will be difficult for CoD to recover from this.
