MOVIE NEWS – The latest Avengers: Doomsday teaser adds fuel to a theory that has been gaining traction for weeks. It’s no coincidence that every preview so far has put children front and center — all signs point to them playing a decisive role in the MCU’s next phase.
We’ve gotten another look at Avengers: Doomsday. After a recent clip spotlighted Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and his son, Disney has now released a new teaser focused on Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and his adopted daughter, Amor/Love (India Rose Hemsworth). Together, these glimpses appear to confirm a popular theory: the children of Earth’s mightiest heroes will function, in a sense, like the Infinity Stones of this new MCU era.
In the just-over-a-minute teaser, the Asgardian God of Thunder prays to his father with a clear goal in mind. His words are transcribed as follows: “But now fate has given me something I never asked for: a daughter, a life untouched by the storm. Grant me the strength of the All-Father so that I may fight once more, vanquish a new enemy, and return home to her.” In short, Doctor Doom has kidnapped the girl introduced in Love & Thunder, and a devastated Thor is determined to bring her back.
When combined with the post-credits scene from Fantastic Four: First Steps — personally directed by the Russo brothers — this marks the third major hint at what Avengers: Doomsday is building toward. The descendants of the franchise’s heroes appear to be central to the story. These children aren’t just notable because of their ties to Mister Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, Captain America, or Thor, but because they possess unique abilities that could be crucial to Doctor Doom’s still-unconfirmed plan to turn the multiverse upside down.
In both the comics and this year’s major Marvel summer release, Franklin Richards, son of Reed Richards, is portrayed as an infant with the potential to attract the attention of even Galactus. Love, meanwhile, is known to be the daughter of Gorr the God Butcher and carries a cosmic nature thanks to her connection to the entity Eternity. Like Franklin, she represents a nexus of pure energy capable of reshaping reality, making her both a strategic asset and a high-risk target in the looming conflict. And what about Captain America’s son? For now, his identity remains one of the film’s most closely guarded secrets, with some theories even suggesting he shouldn’t exist at all.
Could Sadie Sink Play the Daughter of Cyclops and Jean Grey?
A third trailer has yet to be released, and according to leaks it features Professor X and Magneto locked in a game of chess, while Cyclops (James Marsden) unleashes his power — possibly because his daughter has also been taken. Colleague Chema Mansilla notes that many fans believe Stranger Things star Sadie Sink will play Rachel Summers, appearing both in Spider-Man: Brand New Day — where she may arrive seeking refuge — and in this new Avengers installment. Needless to say, the daughter of Jean Grey herself would also possess latent power that Doctor Doom might want, or need, for his plans.
So what is Doom’s endgame? With the next film titled Avengers: Secret Wars, the prevailing theory suggests that the character played by Robert Downey Jr. intends to use these children of royal and cosmic lineage to reshape the multiverse to his liking — a multiverse already stretched thin by events since Avengers: Endgame. This could ultimately lead to a live-action version of Battleworld. That said, it’s worth stressing that all of this remains fan speculation.
Another possibility is that Doctor Doom lost his own children and is now seeking revenge across the multiverse. With only a handful of clips and social media leaks available, there’s little more to confirm for now. What is clear is that the film has reignited enthusiasm among MCU fans, many of whom have weathered several disappointments and a few triumphs since Thanos’ defeat. The movie is slated for release on December 18, and more details are expected in the weeks ahead.
